AMERICAN EXPRESS, Voice Automated Technologies
Responsible for System Administration, installation, and maintenance of
Sun E250 and E450 servers, Sparc, UltraSparc, and SunRay workstations, and
Sun systems integrated into Periphonics VPS/is voice response units in the
Voice Automated Technologies Laboratory. Create and maintain user
accounts, home directories, printer connections, gateway routes, IP
allocations, and general server and workstation configurations. Maintain
department's web, DNS, and email server and NIS+ server. Assist with
maintaining library of backup tapes. Coordinate maintenance and upgrades
of Periphonics VPS/is hardware.
1998 - 1999: UNIX Systems Specialist I
AMERICAN EXPRESS, Distributed Operations
Responsible for monitoring systems to ensure 24 hour availability. Roles
include system monitoring and tuning systems running Solaris and AIX.
Responsibilities include monitoring CPU and disk utilization. Adding and
removing user accounts. Backup and restoration of file systems.
Troubleshooting and repair of system and network failures. Implementing
approved and tested upgrades and procedures. Documenting procedures and
implementations. Monitoring network and system security.
1997 - 2000: Consultant
FOX DATA SYSTEMS
Perform installation, configuration, and administration of UNIX firewall,
gateway, proxy, DNS, web, email, and file servers. Design and build Local
Area Networks, trouble shoot UNIX servers and Windows 95/98 workstations.
Wrote prototype of TrainFrame for GLOBAL SOLUTIONS CONSULTING, INC.
and was instrumental in production of their first release version.
Perform installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
of NetBSD, FreeBSD, Linux, and SCO UNIX systems on x86 and sparc
platforms.
1989 - 1998: MVS Lead Operations Specialist

Responsible for ensuring 24 hour availability and integrity of all IPC
mainframe systems, making decisions and recommendations which could have
immediate impact to a worldwide user community and direct impact to the
profitability of Travel Related Services. Directing the efforts of less
experienced operators. Managing the Maxm Automation Team for improved
system monitoring and enhanced operator functionality. As Senior
Operations Specialist, trained and assisted less experienced operators.
Created FxOutage to record and track system outages from multiple
departments, for which an award was received. As Operations Specialist,
monitored systems and performed changes. As Console Operator II,
organized work flow in the Tape Library. Created D21 Training Guide, for
which an award was received.
1988 - 1989: Systems Operator
PHOENIX MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
Responsible for system monitoring, batch processing, and trouble shooting
terminal communications with no direct supervision. Installed,
customized, and maintained PC hardware and software. Automated SAS
applications for Accounting and created an Inventory Tracking database for
Central Processing.
1983 - 1988: Data Processor, Petty Officer Second Class
UNITED STATES NAVY
Supervised Computer Operations. Scheduled Online and Batch
Processing. Established new procedures, improving security for classified data. As Computer Operator, performed batch processing and coordinated
output, providing statistical reports, payroll, stock listings, punched cards,
and tape files. Recovering, backing out, and rerunning jobs, recreating
tapes, and requeing files as required.
